How do I cancel an order?

Pending orders at Safeguard Securities can be cancelled quickly through your client portal or by contacting our trade desk directly. However, once an order has been executed, it cannot be reversed—standard settlement procedures will apply.

CANCELLING A PENDING ORDER

To cancel an open order, navigate to Orders > Open Orders in your client portal. Locate the order you wish to cancel and click the Cancel button. You will receive immediate confirmation once the cancellation is processed. Limit orders, stop orders, and other conditional orders can be cancelled at any time before they are triggered and executed.

MARKET ORDERS

Market orders are typically executed within seconds during regular trading hours, so the window to cancel a market order is extremely narrow. If you need to exit a position after a market order has been filled, you would need to place a new sell order.

AFTER-HOURS & EXTENDED ORDERS

Orders placed for extended-hours sessions can be cancelled at any time before execution. Good-Till-Cancelled (GTC) orders remain active until executed or cancelled, and can be modified or cancelled through the Open Orders panel at any time.

If you have questions about a specific order or need assistance with a cancellation, our trade desk is available during market hours at +1 216 340 7164 or via the live chat feature in your client portal.
